My FUN Activity Book

Early Maths Practice

Maths is worked naturally into several of the activities.

One worksheet uses snowflakes and ten frames, asking children to look at numbers such as 3, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 and colour the corresponding quantity in each ten frame. This helps children connect a written numeral with a visual representation of quantity.

Another activity combines colouring with basic addition and subtraction. Children solve calculations such as 8 + 1, 5 + 3, 2 + 2, 10 − 3, 9 − 5 and 8 − 7 while enjoying the accompanying picture.

There is also dedicated number tracing practice, where children follow the dotted formations to trace numbers in the correct order.

So while the activities feel varied, children are practicing useful early maths skills including number recognition, number order, quantity and simple calculations.

Early Literacy and Word Recognition

The booklet also introduces literacy activities.

On the mitten activity, children need to identify matching words and colour gloves containing the same words with the same colour. Words include cat, man, sun, all, yes and bed. This turns word recognition into a visual matching activity rather than simply asking children to read from a list.

Another page asks children to circle the words they can read and understand, distinguishing meaningful words such as bus, pot, bed, man, bee, eat, sun, take, cat and win from groups of non-words.

There is also an activity where children can write their own name, giving them an opportunity to practice something particularly meaningful to young learners: recognizing and writing the letters that belong to them.

Fine-Motor and Pre-Writing Fun

Before handwriting becomes comfortable, little hands need plenty of opportunities to practice controlled movements.

My FUN Activity Book includes several line-tracing activities, encouraging children to follow different paths while developing pencil control and visual tracking. Children can colour the pictures afterwards, combining structured practice with creativity.
